Beemans Gum was introduced out in the late 1890’s. It was invented by Dr. Edward E Beeman. He came up with the idea of taking chicle gum and adding pepsin powder. Not only did this pepsin-flavored gum taste good, but it was also used as an aid in relieving heartburn.
