What began as a flower shop (Blooms on the Square) has morphed into a full-fledged old fashioned candy candy & soda pop shop. When we first got the idea to add some candy to our offerings on the square we had no idea it would become what it is today. The flowers are gone and have been replaced with over 800 different types of candy, over 50 different glass bottle root beers and 200 more hard to find and gourmet glass bottle sodas.
Located in Historic Downtown Carrollton, you’ll find our candy shop right on Main Street, where a candy store belongs.
Who are we?
John – One of those creative types who ended up being the main handy man here at Blooms. He and Nicole have been together for 7 years and he still blames her for getting him into this crazy mess. He’s responsible for the crazy gumball machines we have and occasionally gets stuck working the register (you’ll know it if he helps you as he struggles to remember prices). Without him we wouldn't have anyone to do the heavy lifting, fix the broken stuff or make sure all the money in the drawer faces the right way. He’s happy as long as we have Mallo Cups in stock and Berghoff’’s Root Beer in the cooler.
Nicole – A kooky, hyperactive adult who is constantly moving. She’s responsible for finding a good portion of the candies we stock, the nostalgic sodas and ALL of the weird gift items. Constantly on the lookout for new fun stuff, if it’s weird she’ll buy it. John always does his best to keep her in check, but we know how that goes. She’s partial to Blow Pops and Faygo Rock N Rye.
Sid – You can find Sid running the register on weekends and evenings and either tasting product or offering samples. He’s tried nearly everything in the shop, including the Crickets. (Ew!)
Shelby – John’s daughter occasionally helps out on the weekends with the register, stocking products and always giving advice to Nicole on what’s “cool” and what’s not when it comes to buying new products. A confirmed chocoholic liker her Dad, she will sometimes work for candy.
Reese – She works her magic with the pricing gun and restocking the nostalgic soda cooler. When not begging for sour candy or jelly beans she enjoys cleaning the front glass windows of our shop and restocking the soda cooler.
